Alex Fragiskatos has been playing and arranging for pan since attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. There he studied with James Culley while earning his bachelor's degree in music performance in2010. After that Alex earned his master's degree in music performance at The University of Akron where he studied percussion with Dr. Larry Snider and pan with the artistic director of the steelband, Matt Dudack. In the fall of 2014 Alex began doctoral studies at Arizona State University with an assistantship directing the Pan Devil Steel Band.
In addition to studying and teaching several of his arrangements at Cincinnati and Akron, Alex has had opportunities to supplement his learning with masterclasses and performances alongside virtuosos like Cliff Alexis, Ray Holman, Liam Teague, and Victor Provost. He regularly performs on pan in educational concerts and private bookings throughout the Northeast Ohio region and has taught the steel bands at the St. Peter School in Canton, OH and the Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Akron. As a percussionist, Alex has performed with the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Tuscarawas Philharmonic, Akros Percussion Collective, Summit Choral Society, and Master Singers Chorale of Northeast Ohio.
